Meet our Founder

Greetings, I'm Mickenzy Hammond, and I'm honored to be the owner of Lotus Yoga  in Grand Forks. Life has its way of leading us to the right places, and that's exactly how I found yoga – during a time when I truly needed it. This practice embraced me with open arms and showed me a path to healing and self-discovery. As my journey unfolded, I became captivated by the profound impact that yoga and wellness can have on our lives. Now, my purpose is to share these transformative gifts with others, so they too can experience the joy, vitality, and freedom that come from living mindfully and wholeheartedly. Let's walk this path together.

Hot Yoga Flow

Hot Yoga Flow is a 45 to 60 minute yoga class focusing on the mind-body connection achieved through yoga postures, also known as yoga asana. Our yoga flow classes are conducted in the heated room and their pace is subject to instructor discretion. Lotus yoga focuses on proper alignment in yoga postures, to ensure our clients health and safety. Yoga flow is suitable for beginning, intermediate, and advanced practitioners, inviting all levels to join us on their mat.

Hot Barre Sculpt

Barre is a low-impact, high-energy workout that blends elements of ballet, Pilates, and strength training to tone and sculpt the entire body. Using a ballet barre for balance, along with light weights and small, controlled movements, barre targets muscles you didn’t know you had—especially in the core, glutes, thighs, and arms. Expect upbeat music, a fun flow, and a serious burn. Barre is accessible for all fitness levels and delivers results through precision, repetition, and a focus on posture and alignment.

Reformer Pilates

Reformer Pilates is a dynamic, full-body workout performed on a specialized machine called a reformer, which uses springs, pulleys, and a sliding carriage to create resistance and support. This versatile equipment allows for a wide range of movements that target strength, flexibility, balance, and alignment. Reformer Pilates is highly effective for core conditioning, injury prevention, and posture improvement, making it ideal for all fitness levels—from beginners to athletes. Each session offers a low-impact yet challenging experience that strengthens and lengthens the body in a controlled, mindful way.

Hot Yoga Sculpt

Hot Yoga Sculpt is a 45 to 60 minute body sculpting class. This class is intended to warm you up and cool you down with yoga flow techniques. For the practitioner seeking a full-body workout, Sculpt includes cardio, core, and toning exercises, usually with the use of weights. Every class concludes with a cool down and stretch. Sculpt classes are conducted in the hot room and pacing is subject to instructor discretion. Suitable for all levels, Sculpt invites practitioners to challenge themselves, when they step on their mat.

Hot Mat Pilates

Mat Pilates is a low-impact, full-body workout designed to build core strength, improve posture, and increase flexibility. Performed on a yoga or Pilates mat using bodyweight and optional props like resistance bands or small weights, mat Pilates emphasizes precise movements, breath control, and proper alignment. It’s suitable for all fitness levels and offers a balanced approach to strength and mobility—helping you feel stronger, more centered, and better connected to your body with each session.

Hot Shakti Sculpt

Shakti Sculpt is a powerful fusion of yoga, strength training, and intentional movement designed to awaken your inner energy—your Shakti. This class blends breath-driven flows with body-sculpting exercises using light weights, resistance bands, and dynamic sequences. Set to motivating music, Shakti Sculpt builds strength, endurance, and flexibility while tapping into the feminine force of vitality and creativity. Expect to sweat, move with purpose, and leave feeling both grounded and energized. All levels welcome.

Hot Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is a 60 minute yoga/meditation practice which aids in activating the parasympathetic nervous system. Slow and relaxing yoga postures, meditation, and breath work are combined to help the body rest and restore. Restorative yoga is suitable for beginner, intermediate, and advanced practitioners and is conducted in the heated room. Practitioners seeking a deep mindfulness practice and period of rest will benefit from restorative yoga.

Hot Yoga 26

Hot 26 is a set sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises performed in the hot room. This consistent series is designed to systematically work every part of the body—strengthening muscles, improving flexibility, stimulating organs, and enhancing balance. The heat allows for deeper stretching, increased circulation, and detoxification through sweat, while the structured format helps you track your progress over time. Whether you’re new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, Hot 26 offers a challenging, meditative, and transformative experience.
